We are seeking a compassionate ASL expert to act as a vital communication facilitator for a deaf individual with developmental disabilities. This role transcends basic interpretation—it's about inspiring self-expression, advocating for personal needs, and connecting individuals with the world around them.

Requirements

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Experience working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, particularly those with developmental disabilities.
• Ability to pass all Wisconsin DHS-required caregiver background checks, including registry reviews and mandatory reporting clearance.
• A patient and empathetic nature, paired with exceptional listening skills.
• A collaborative mindset, eager to work alongside clients and teams to achieve person-centered goals.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate Understanding: Ensure smooth and accurate two-way ASL interpretation during medical appointments and daily interactions with caregivers.
• Amplify Voices: Empower our client to express their needs, choices, and preferences with clarity and acceptance.
• Translate with Care: Simplify complex medical terminology and everyday conversations to ensure understanding and accessibility.
• Champion Inclusion: Make certain that the client’s thoughts and perspectives are valued and respected in every interaction.
• Collaborate for Success: Work hand-in-hand with a dedicated team to discover and implement effective communication strategies tailored specifically for the client.
