About The Position

We’re looking for an Advanced Ambulatory Respiratory Therapist, someone who’s ready to grow with our company. In this position, you’ll perform routine and complex pulmonary function tests, score and download control of breathing procedures in an age-appropriate manner. To provide a variety of respiratory care procedures upon request of a physician. To provide extensive education to patients, families, and staff on the management of disease states as related to respiratory care.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required
  • RCP – Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner required
  • BLS – Basic Life Support, American Heart Association preferred
  • RRT – Registered Respiratory Therapist, National Board for Respiratory Care required
  • RPFT – Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist, National Board for Respiratory Care required within 18 months of hire or notification date or CPFT – Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist, National Board for Respiratory Care required within 18 months of hire or notification date
  • 1-year clinical experience in both critical and non-critical care areas with a minimum of 6 months of experience in critical care required

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care and services to patients treated in the Clinical Care Center and Hospital
  • Performs spirometry, body plethysmography, diffusion studies, and lung volume testing in accordance with departmental policy and American Thoracic Society guidelines
  • Performs arterial blood gas sampling and pulse oximetry monitoring, accurately reporting and documenting results
  • Performs control of breathing studies and documents clinical observations and patient data
  • Performs bronchoprovocation and exercise challenges and communicates results with physician within required timeframe
  • Assists with flexible fiber optic laryngoscopies including equipment preparation, patient monitoring, and documentation
  • Responds to codes and supports ventilation, oxygenation, and resuscitation efforts
  • Provides patient and family education on disease processes and management
  • Provides inhaler and peak flow instruction using age-appropriate teaching methods including demonstration and evaluation
  • Administers aerosol and oxygen therapy in accordance with competency and departmental policy
  • Documents all education and treatment in the patient’s medical record
  • Performs setup and management of mechanical ventilation and non-invasive respiratory support as ordered
  • Participates in staff education and quality improvement
  • Provides ongoing staff education through in-services, meetings, and shared materials
  • Assists in training and evaluation of new staff, students, and clinical learners
  • Contributes to clinical program improvements and patient education material updates
  • Participates in quality improvement and outcome management initiatives
  • Performs and evaluates control of breathing studies and adjusts apnea monitor settings as requested
  • Documents diagnostic results and ensures accurate and timely charge entry
  • Maintains compliance with clinical policies, certifications, and regulatory requirements
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by leadership
  • Shares knowledge from conferences and professional development activities with staff
  • Participates in and presents at departmental educational sessions
