About The Position

The Ambulatory Medical Surgery Unit (AMSU) Outpatient RN will provide pre-operative/pre-procedure, post-operative/post-procedure nursing care to Veterans who will undergo or have undergone moderate sedation and/or anesthesia for surgical, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures. This includes care in the Operating Room, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Pulmonary Lab, CT/MRI (pre and post hydration), GI Suites, Interventional Radiology, and the Pain Clinic. The role also involves conducting daily post-operative/post-procedure follow-up phone calls and providing additional coverage for the Urology Clinic, Pain Clinic, Wound Care, and the Pre-anesthesia Clinic.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted RN license from any state in the United States.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificate accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • At least three (3) years of nursing experience.
  • Experience with outpatient or ambulatory surgery.
  • ASN degree accepted; BSN preferred.
  • Education must have been completed at a school accredited by the ACEN or CCNE.

  • BSN preferred.

Responsibilities
