The Ambulatory Medical Assistant-OBGYN will adhere to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, follow all policies and procedures, and maintain training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care. This role involves performing rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings. The assistant will also support providers with procedures, perform lab-related duties including venipuncture and specimen collection, and administer medications and vaccines safely. Additional duties may include medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals. The position requires cross-training for relevant duties within the specialty or clinic practice, demonstrating effective communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation. Maintaining a clean work environment, ensuring instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, stocked, and in working order is also essential. The role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the life span.
