The Staff Nurse in the Division of Colorectal Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult surgical patients, including those undergoing colorectal surgical procedures, within the ambulatory setting. This role is crucial for supporting patient care through clinical telephone triage, care coordination, patient education, and collaboration with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe, timely, and effective care. The Staff Nurse systematically collects and assesses patient health status data to develop, execute, and evaluate the plan of care in the ambulatory/outpatient setting. They perform necessary assessments, administer treatments, and communicate with the multidisciplinary care team. Additionally, the Staff Nurse provides patient and family education and psychosocial and emotional support, ensuring care is safe, holistic, efficient, effective, timely, and meets the cultural, spiritual, and ethnic needs of each patient and family.
