This is an exempt hybrid position that requires local travel in the Northern Chicagoland area. The Ambulatory Clinical Informaticist Associate serves as a subject matter expert for the EHR, providing in-depth support to clinicians in the ambulatory setting and acting as a liaison between clinicians, operational leadership, and IT. They troubleshoot EHR issues, support the implementation of new technology, and collaborate with CI and IT teams to address technical challenges. The role involves developing expertise in specific EHR areas, managing change related to technology adoption, and providing end-user support to improve the effectiveness of new technologies and processes. Additionally, the associate assists with reporting tools, participates in efforts to reduce administrative burden through enhanced decision support and data-driven decisions, and begins to leverage clinical data analytics for insights. They support the optimal use of clinical systems and documentation practices, ensuring the successful implementation and administration of clinical applications. The role involves participating in cross-functional teams to reimagine clinical processes, enhance patient care, and analyze clinical workflows for improvements. Collaboration with CI teams across care settings ensures effective utilization of clinical systems. The associate provides in-person or virtual support to users, performs purposeful rounding, and becomes a go-to resource for EHR-related questions. They partner with the informatics training and education team, providing informal guidance to new team members and evaluating training effectiveness. The role requires integrating knowledge of policies and clinical resources into educational programming, proactively monitoring and responding to user requests, understanding user pain points, and assisting with clinician onboarding and system setting personalization. Continuous improvement of user experiences and outcomes is a key aspect, along with providing ongoing education and training, recommending additional training, and assisting with virtual training sessions. The associate also helps develop training materials, performs basic troubleshooting, and collaborates with clinical informatics and interdisciplinary teams to identify optimization opportunities and streamline tasks. They promote adherence to recommended workflows, support system upgrades, and educate end users on best practices. The role involves utilizing evidence-based practice, ensuring successful implementation of upgrades and enhancements, and developing partnerships with site and area leaders. Finally, they participate in the analysis and design of EHR configuration to support organizational initiatives, focusing on standardized best practices and clinical content to improve quality and patient safety, and assist in identifying metrics to monitor project effectiveness and perform testing.
