The Ambulatory Clinic Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) utilizes the nursing process to coordinate patient-centered care within the Internal Medicine Residency Clinic, supporting both the clinical and educational missions of the program. The LPN collaborates with resident physicians, attending physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to promote, maintain, and restore patients' health across the continuum of care. Responsibilities include performing nursing assessments within scope of practice, coordinating care plans, administering treatments and medications as ordered, providing patient and family education, assisting with chronic disease management, and supporting preventive health initiatives. The LPN serves as a clinical resource within the residency practice, helping facilitate efficient clinic operations, continuity of care, and a positive learning environment for resident physicians. The LPN practices within the boundaries of the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, specialty standards, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures while delivering compassionate, culturally sensitive, and high-quality patient care.
