About The Position

The incumbent is responsible for all supervisory functions related to the delivery of patient care, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care in the Internal Medicine Department. Supervises and directs all staff and functions in the department while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and clinic specific expertise. Specific duties include directing patient care activities, monitoring unit budgets, and participating on departmental and medical center wide performance improvement projects. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients and others.

Requirements

Sound understanding of Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory requirements to be able to monitor for compliance
Previous experience working as a clinical lead or charge nurse
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Minimum two years demonstrated nursing experience in an ambulatory care setting
Minimum of three years demonstrated nursing experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff through prior lead or supervisory experience
Current California RN license
Current BLS and ACLS certifications upon hire
Complete understanding of acuity levels for specific patient populations
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

Pediatric ambulatory experience
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
Demonstrated supervisory experience working in an acute care setting, or ambulatory surgery center
