About The Position

The Ambulatory Care Assistant (ACA) is responsible for maintaining a highly professional environment, ensuring a collaborative relationship with patients, physicians, referring physicians, non-licensed and licensed staff in the Clinic. The ACA assists with non-clinical tasks required to ensure smooth patient access and flow including scheduling patients for follow up office visits, imaging and lab work, preparation of appropriate chart elements, and escorting patient to room and collecting vital signs and patient information. May perform blood draw with phlebotomy certification. Assists physician with tasks such as removing bandages, collection of samples not requiring sterile procedures, and other non-sterile tasks. Stocks and organizes exam rooms and assists with storage of medical supplies. This position also handles the pre-authorization process and acts as a liaison between the providers and patient. The ACA works collaboratively with clinical staff to ensure all proper records are received and all appropriate testing is completed prior to appointment/surgery date. The ACA provides updates to the clinic staff and patients on timing ensuring patient flow. Performs other duties as assigned. Willing to travel to different worksites.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR equivalent medical back-office experience
  • Minimum 2 years in healthcare related field
  • Minimum one year of previous experience within an acute healthcare system environment
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Current BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelors’ degree
  • Working Knowledge of EPIC or other Electronic Medical Record system ‘EMR’
  • Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidates
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • State of California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPTI) Certification (for blood draws)
