About The Position

The Nutrition Services Ambassador supports patient meal service by explaining the Room Service menu and ordering process, determining whether patients qualify for full Room Service, Assist, or Non-Select, and communicating patient classifications to the Call Center. The role delivers patient meal trays and unit supplies, ensuring meal selections comply with patients’ diet orders and that meals reach patients as quickly as possible and within the allotted 45 minutes. The Ambassador follows HACCP principles, infection-control practices, and appropriate sanitation procedures, and completes required position paperwork. The position is part-time on second shift, with hours from 4:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

Requirements

Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
Ability to push and pull wheeled carts.
Ability to read and write English.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Ability to tolerate frequent temperature changes while working with and around equipment that generates heat, steam, and cold.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Food service or customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Explain the Room Service menu and ordering process to patients.
Qualify patients as full Room Service, Assist, or Non-Select, and communicate this information to the Call Center.
Deliver patient meal trays and unit supplies, prioritizing prompt delivery within the allotted 45 minutes.
Ensure meal selections comply with patients’ diet orders.
Follow HACCP principles when completing tasks.
Accurately manage paperwork, including tray delivery forms, Missed Meal Reports, and refrigerator and freezer temperature monitoring forms.
Follow correct hand hygiene procedures, including sanitizing hands before and after entering patient rooms and washing hands as needed.
Use appropriate scripting and communicate effectively with patients and internal and external customers; ask for two patient identifiers, confirm tray accuracy, offer to open cartons, offer additional assistance, and use the HEAL principle.
Use position equipment safely and effectively and perform applicable cleaning and sanitation, including sanitizing carts used to transport dirty trays and cleaning unit coffee machines and refrigerators.
Perform other duties as assigned.
