About The Position

This classification supervises the activities of Ambassador Connectors, who engage with community groups and citizens, including attending meetings and connecting residents to city services and programs. Duties may include;: conducting supervisory duties; coordinating weekly community events; hosting community resource tables promoting city services and resources; and identifying gaps in service delivery in the community, connecting residents to critical resources and services, distributing surveys and promoting events, handling and elevating concerns and inquiries as needed, and participating in trainings, workshops, and site visits (field trips) designed to enhance knowledge of city services and resources. Incumbents supervise staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures. Salary range for this hourly position is $25.00-$26.00

Requirements

Knowledge of Community Outreach techniques and best practices
Knowledge of existing City resources, programs, and departments
Knowledge of Feedback collection methods such as surveys
Knowledge of Community Engagement strategies
Engaging community members to understand their needs and connect them with relevant resources, programs, and opportunities
Planning, promoting, and executing community events, both online and offline, to enhance engagement and participation
Helping community members navigate available resources and opportunities
Effective oral and written communication, including newsletters, social media, and other channels
Maintaining accurate records of community interactions, outreach activities, and event participation, and providing regular reports
Show initiative, work independently, and proactively identify and address community needs
Develop and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders, organizations, and influencers to foster collaboration and support
Collaborate closely with other departments and team members to align community initiatives with organizational goals
High school diploma or equivalent is required
At least one year or more experience in community engagement, customer service, public relations, or related fields
At least one year of experience in a supervisory or leadership role, managing teams, setting goals, and evaluating performance
An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification

Responsibilities

Supervise, mentor, and support a team of Community Ambassadors, providing guidance and resources needed to succeed
Organizing and participating in community events and activities to boost awareness of city programs and foster positive relationships (e.g. resource tables, outreach campaigns, and information sessions)
Participating in workforce development activities including digital literacy, career exploration, and resume or GED support
Engaging with the community both offline and online, responding to inquiries and providing assistance as needed
Collaborating with marketing and communications teams, and other city departments to create content that engages the community and promotes the city
Gathering and providing feedback to guide future initiatives and improve services
Developing and implementing strategies for community engagement and growth
Providing regular updates and reports on community issues, needs, and interests
Identifying partnership opportunities with local businesses and other organizations to further community goals
Support conflict resolution and promote inclusive, respectful interactions within neighborhoods
Staying informed about developments and trends related to local issues and city programming
Act as a point of contact during emergencies, providing support and coordinating response efforts.
