About The Position

This is an excellent opportunity to join Amazon's world class technical team in Herndon, VA, working with some of the best and brightest engineers and technical managers while also developing your skills and furthering your career within one of the innovative and progressive technology companies anywhere. Amazon Web Service is building some of the largest distributed systems in the world. Amazon's database offerings like Aurora, DynamoDB, EMR, OpenSearch, RDS, and Redshift are massively scaled services that make up a critical piece of the internet today. A successful Engineer joining the team will do much more than write code and triage problems. They will work with Amazon's largest and most demanding customers to address specific needs across a full suite of services. They will dive deep into technical issues and work diligently to improve the customer experience. On a "typical" day, our engineers may dive deep to find the root cause of a customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending in the wrong direction, launch a new service or feature, or discuss radical new approaches to automate operational processes. As a member of our team you will join a dedicated group of engineers who provide troubleshooting and operations support, and innovate to automate operational tasks.

Requirements

  • Be great fun to work with.
  • Strong Linux & Networking Fundamentals.
  • Deep experience working with Linux, preferably in a large scale, distributed environment.
  • Understand networking technology and how servers and networks inter-relate.
  • Regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting and conduct technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.
  • Love to code.
  • Solid understanding of software development methodology.
  • Know how to use the right tool for the right job.

  • Build and deploy solutions across thousands of devices.
  • Strive to improve and streamline processes to allow for work on a massive scale.
  • Cloud+ or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)
  • 5+ years of industry work experience
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in system design

  • Experience with support procedures and methodologies for production computing environments
  • Experience automating routine tasks
  • Experience working with high-availability, distributed systems and services
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience troubleshooting issues and root cause analysis
