This position is responsible for preparing and directing others in all aspects of meal preparation, executing and maintaining an efficient, economical, and nutritious food service program for the shelter. The Cook will receive and supervise food donations, make arrangements for storage, and assist with food production and presentation for daily menu items and special events. Key responsibilities include monitoring the highest standard of quality in meal production, ensuring kitchen sanitation and safety regulations are observed, monitoring costing of raw materials, portion control, waste, and maintaining inventory levels. The role also involves overseeing and assisting in training volunteers, driving an Agency van to pick up, load/unload, and deliver food supplies, and supporting Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values, and Code of Ethics. The position requires maintaining confidentiality of client and agency information, regular and predictable attendance, and using creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
