About The Position

Part-Time Alumni Engagement Host / Tour Guide The mission of West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is to “Serve West Point and the Long Gray Line.” WPAOG is both the alumni association and foundation for the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point. Our vision is to ensure the Long Gray Line remains the most highly connected alumni body in the world. USMA is renowned as the world's preeminent leadership development institution. The student body, or Corps of Cadets, numbers 4,400, and each year approximately 1,000 cadets graduate and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army. For generations of West Point graduates, returning to their “Rockbound Highland Home” is more than a visit — it is a homecoming. The West Point Association of Graduates is looking for a special kind of professional who understands the importance of these moments and takes genuine pride in hosting graduates as they reconnect with the place that helped shape their lives. If you are the right person for this position, you already have a deep understanding of West Point history, culture, and mission. You are a natural and charismatic host. You instinctively offer personal attention. You listen first, speak thoughtfully, and read groups with ease. You are fully present, empathetic, and pivot effortlessly amid shifting social dynamics. Your primary assignment will be to host and lead what we call “Grad Insider Tours” of West Point. These tours are curated return experiences for graduates and their guests, and last 2-2.5 hours. Our guests are not tourists seeking facts and figures about West Point; they are seeking connection. The tours are a combination of driving and walking. You must be comfortable and confident driving a large 14-passenger van, often in tight spaces, while simultaneously speaking to your guests via a microphone “headset”. You must also be able to walk as many as two miles during any given tour. A tour script, driver training, and other essentials will be provided. You will bring your guests behind the scenes, to where many of their West Point memories live. You will help match the places to the stories, the events to the emotion, and the pride to the place. You will guide them not simply across grounds and spaces where they once walked, but back into moments that helped shape who they became. Your goal is to ensure that each guest feels personally welcomed, thoughtfully attended to, and genuinely understood. For those who meet the primary qualifications, prior experience as a tour guide is welcome, but not a necessity. Exemplary people skills are valued above all prior tour guide experience. West Point graduates, candidates who reside on post at West Point, and those who demonstrate strong sustained engagement within the West Point community will be especially competitive for this position. If hired, candidates will also have ample opportunity to assist the AOG team with other high-profile events throughout the year, for example R-Day, Ring Melt, Memorial Support, etc. This position will pay between $18.00 - $20.00 an hour, based on skills and experience. Please submit cover letter, resume, and up to three (3) letters of reference. To apply, please go to https://www.westpointaog.org/employment
