About The Position

Australia Awards Solomon Islands (AASI) is seeking an Alumni Engagement and MEL Officer to support the delivery of alumni engagement activities throughout the scholarship lifecycle. This role also encompasses monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) functions, including coordinating activities, providing administrative support, and collecting and analyzing data to track results and enhance program performance. The Officer will play a key role in improving the alumni experience, promoting inclusive participation (including GEDSI outcomes), and strengthening professional networks and partnerships. This position works closely with DFAT Post Honiara and various stakeholders such as Australia Awards Scholarships (AAS), Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships (AAPS), Australia Awards Fellowship (AAF) awardees, Short Course participants, Australian and Pacific host institutions, Australia Global Alumni, the Solomon Islands Australia Alumni Association (SIAAA), and partners in the private sector and civil society. The work aligns with the Australia Awards Global Strategic Framework and the Global Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in human resources, education, international relations/ development, and/or project management or related discipline.
  • Experience in program coordination, preferably in an international development or education context.
  • Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), including data collection, analysis, and reporting to support program improvement.
  • Understanding of Australia’s strategic priorities in Solomon Islands, particularly public diplomacy, people-to-people links, and human resource development.
  • Knowledge of the Australian tertiary education system.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience or familiarity with data management and reporting.
  • Understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, DFAT programs and priorities.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English and Solomon Islands Pidgin.
  • Ability to manage workloads, work independently and in a team, and deliver results on time.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and cross-cultural skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • High level of personal initiative, with innovative and analytical thinking, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to capacity development, teamwork, and building constructive and effective working relationships.
