About The Position

Gravitics is seeking a highly skilled welder to join their team and build primary structures for spaceflight systems. This role involves hands-on precision aluminum welding, forming, fitting, and working with robotic/automated welding systems. The welder will fabricate mission-critical structures, inspect weld quality, collaborate with engineering on problem-solving, and ensure all welds meet the highest standards. Responsibilities include operating mechanized welding systems, fabricating tooling, handling raw materials, and supporting shop operations in a fast-paced environment where quality and safety are paramount.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Class A TIG welding experience (or equivalent from other industry)
  • 5+ years of fabrication and forming experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints
  • Familiarity with NDT processes such as X-ray and other inspection techniques
  • Automated or robotic welding experience
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical milestones
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Responsibilities

  • Weld primary structure for human-rated space hardware
  • Quickly fabricate and weld tooling to support production
  • Inspect fabricated parts for geometry acceptance and weld conformance
  • Fit, form, clean parts, and set up welding equipment for production
  • Perform Class A quality aluminum welds
  • Diagnose weld defects and recommend corrective actions and process improvements
  • Collaborate with Engineering on tooling improvements and solving build issues
  • Handle raw materials and finished weldments
  • Use fabrication equipment such as vertical bandsaws, sanding tools, and jig tables
  • Work with x-ray technicians and support other NDT processes
  • Read engineering blueprints and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
