About The Position

We are currently taking resumes/applications for an EXPERIENCED Aluminum Fitter for the Franklin, LA and surround area. This is not an entry-level position, and candidate should have a solid understanding of some of the following: Fabrication of aluminum boats and vessels MUST HAVE 3 YEARS VERIFIABLE WORK EXPERIENCE WITH ALUMINUM.

Requirements

  • EXPERIENCED Aluminum Fitter
  • 3 YEARS VERIFIABLE WORK EXPERIENCE WITH ALUMINUM
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprint drawings.
  • Require minimal aluminum welding experience
  • Excellent math skills with ability to efficiently read a tape measure
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic
  • Demonstrate consistency in quality of work
  • Experience with operating other shop equipment (e.g., overhead crane, hand tools, forklift)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 LBS
  • Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks.
  • Ability to work in varying hot and cold environments
  • Ability to work in cramped and/or confined spaces when required
  • Ability to work in an environments with exposures to dust, dirt and various other debris, metal and paint fumes, gases
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock
  • Must be able to provide own PPE (welding shield, FRC, hard hat, steel toes, safety glasses, welding gloves)
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to pass drug screen
  • Tasks beyond those listed above will be asked of you, so a positive, can-do attitude is required.

Responsibilities

  • Efficient in using tools such as jacks, pry bars, hammers, saws, welding equipment or torches, and files or grinders to fit the parts exactly.
  • May use metal fabricating machines in their work, including metal brakes, to bend sheet metal to a specific angle, use rolls that flatten sheet metal, shears or flame cutters to cut sheet metal or drill presses to drill holes at specific locations.
  • Operates cutting equipment including torches and various power and hand tools
  • Safely operates iron worker, grinders, overhead cranes, rigging, pipe threading machine, welding machine, and various pneumatic hand tools
  • Must be able to lay out materials.
  • May layout and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using ruler, square, scribe or templates
  • Positions pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
  • Assembly of components with some fabrication of equipment needed for the job with minimal supervision
  • Assists in maintaining all equipment and tools used in their trade
  • Performs general housekeeping and maintenance duties
  • Promotes and supports safety, production and positive attitude
