About The Position

The Kentucky United Methodist Children’s Homes (KyUMH) is seeking passionate, mission-driven individuals for a part-time Alternative to Detention (ATD) Liaison position. This role is crucial in supporting our mission to serve Christ by providing for the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of children and families. The ATD Liaison will be present at juvenile court to complete the home detention intake or discharge of juvenile clients referred by Detention Alternatives Coordinators (DACs). This is a life-changing opportunity to help clients find healing and build a brighter future.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma.
  • Must have a valid driver's license from state of residence.
  • Must submit to an intensive background investigation.
  • Must have reliable transportation for daily court attendance.
  • Mandatory computer skills in Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook, Teams, and One Drive/Share Point.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience within the court system or juvenile services preferred, but not required.

  • Self-starter who requires minimum supervision after completion of training.
  • Ability to follow through with documentation, communication and deadlines.
  • Schedule flexibility to remain at court until session is complete.

Responsibilities

  • Attend Jefferson County Juvenile Court daily.
  • Install & remove GPS tracking units on juveniles involved in the court system.
  • Assure proper knowledge of monitoring equipment for installation and removal.
  • Data entry in GPS monitoring software.
  • Inventory control of GPS monitoring equipment.
  • Communicate case information to the Case Managers, the Department of Juvenile Justice workers, and the ATD Coordinator as needed.
  • Remain available via cell phone while at court for communication with Case Managers, the Department of Juvenile Justice workers, and the ATD Coordinator.
  • Complete the proper documentation and timely completion of all daily, weekly, monthly paper work.
  • Complete and maintain training required by agency for this position.
  • If unable to attend court session(s), coordinate coverage with the ATD Coordinator.
  • Stay informed about current issues affecting youth.
  • Other duties as assigned by the ATD Coordinator, the Director of ATD Services, and the Director of Operations.
