About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to lead the implementation of a district-wide vaping education and intervention program aimed at reducing student vaping and minimizing disciplinary escalation. This part-time role focuses on supporting students transitioning from alternative settings by increasing protective factors, promoting self-regulation, and fostering positive decision-making. Through structured interventions, family engagement, and restorative practices, the case manager will play a key role in helping students reintegrate successfully while addressing the root causes of vaping-related behaviors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Human Services, or related field required
  • Two (2) years of experience in serving high risk student populations, social services, teaching, or other student services required
  • Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must maintain a valid state issued driver’s license.

  • Master’s degree in related fields preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and facilitating day-long interventions for students and families.
  • Receives referrals from alternative settings and obtains necessary documentation from LEA. Assists in scheduling and coordinating needed evaluations.
  • Coordinates with students and school personnel to reach academic and vocational outcomes as applicable.
  • Provides guidance to personnel on how to help students achieve goals and objectives.
  • Ensures that all recipients' records are properly maintained, stored, and kept confidential at all times.
  • Leads the alternative settings and district team to select appropriate curricula for working with students. Implements appropriate curricula or demonstrates creativity in developing programs/training to assist personnel.
  • Provides guidance to alternative settings and district personnel on how to help students receive identified services in order to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Collaborates with community partners to schedule, plan, and attend events and training to further ensure student goals are met.
  • Handles student, work site, and/or district complaints and works to resolve the problem.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality, a professional demeanor, and represents both organizations in a positive manner at all times.
  • Ensures all monthly reporting is completed accurately and sent to designated personnel timely.
  • Documents student progress and completes other documentation necessary for students' future.
  • Understands and keeps up to date with new technology, community resources, and assistive devices available to students.
  • Communicates through the proper channels to keep supervisor and other appropriate personnel informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature.
  • Complies with accounting and financial policies and procedures, as well as other Board policies.
  • May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities.
  • Attends meetings as needed.
  • Prepares or completes various documents, reports, and correspondence as required.
  • Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, typing documents, making copies, sending/receiving faxes, filing documentation, processing incoming/outgoing mail, or running errands.
  • Complies with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law and Code of Professional Conduct as defined by Board Policy 5.6011.
  • Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times.
  • Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to schools, community, businesses, Superintendent of Schools, Board of Education, and other stakeholders.
  • Works collaboratively with all stakeholders.
