About The Position

The Alternative Investments & Investment Reporting Team Lead is a senior individual contributor responsible for leading the firm's alternative investment reporting function and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of client-facing investment reporting within the Masttro wealth reporting platform. This role serves as the technical lead for alternative investment reporting, overseeing the validation, reconciliation, and maintenance of complex investment data across private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, private credit, real estate, and other private market investments. The Team Lead provides technical guidance, supports quality assurance and process improvement initiatives, and establishes reporting best practices across the team. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in alternative investments, partnership accounting concepts, investment documentation, and wealth reporting technology, with the ability to interpret partnership reporting—including Schedule K-1s and capital account activity—to validate investment data and ensure accurate client reporting. This role partners closely with advisors, client service teams, investment managers, fund administrators, custodians, external accountants, and technology providers to deliver comprehensive, accurate, and meaningful wealth reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • 5–7+ years of experience in family office operations, investment reporting, fund accounting, wealth management, alternative investments, or investment operations.
  • Strong understanding of alternative investment structures, partnership reporting, capital activity, investment documentation, and the reconciliation of investment data for client reporting purposes
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis and reconciliations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Masttro or comparable wealth reporting platforms preferred.
  • Experience supporting ultra-high-net-worth families, family offices, or institutional investment portfolios.
  • Experience with Addepar, Black Diamond, Tamarac, Allvue, Investran, eFront, Masttro, or similar investment reporting platforms.
  • Familiarity with Schwab, Fidelity, Pershing, BNY, and other custodial platforms.
  • Experience in fund accounting, partnership accounting, or public accounting.
  • CPA, CFA, or CAIA designation (or progress toward one) is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the firm's alternative investment reporting function, ensuring accurate, timely, and comprehensive client reporting across complex investment portfolios.
  • Oversee the ingestion of alternative investment documents into the Masttro platform through Doc AI, validating extracted investment data and resolving processing exceptions.
  • Review and interpret alternative investment account statements, capital notices, valuation reports, and other fund reporting to ensure investment information is accurately maintained.
  • Process and reconcile capital calls, capital contributions, distributions, subscriptions, redemptions, transfers, and other investment cash flows.
  • Track investment commitments, unfunded commitments, ownership percentages, valuations, and investment lifecycle events across private investment portfolios.
  • Maintain complete and organized investment records supporting client reporting.
  • Review partnership financial statements, capital account reports, Schedule K-1s, capital notices, and other fund reporting to validate investment information maintained within the Masttro platform.
  • Reconcile investment activity across fund statements, custodial records, investment portals, and Masttro to ensure client-facing reporting accurately reflects information received from investment sponsors.
  • Review Schedule K-1s as a validation tool to confirm investment activity, ownership information, and capital account balances are consistent with reported investment data.
  • Identify, research, and resolve discrepancies between fund reporting, investment statements, custodial records, and Masttro prior to client report generation.
  • Perform ongoing quality assurance reviews of client reporting to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Gather and organize annual investment tax documents, including Schedule K-1s, for delivery to clients and their tax professionals.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and well-documented investment records to support reliable client reporting and data consistency within the Masttro platform.
  • Administer financial account connectivity for brokerage, banking, custodial, and alternative investment accounts within Masttro.
  • Establish, monitor, and troubleshoot automated data feeds between custodians, financial institutions, fund administrators, and Masttro.
  • Ensure linked accounts remain synchronized and accurately reflected within the reporting platform.
  • Build and maintain Global Wealth Maps reflecting client assets, liabilities, trusts, legal entities, ownership structures, and investment relationships.
  • Support onboarding of new client relationships by validating investment information, organizing documentation, and configuring reporting structures.
  • Collaborate with technology vendors and custodians to resolve connectivity and aggregation issues.
  • Serve as the team's technical resource for complex alternative investment reporting and reconciliation matters.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and mentoring to team members on reporting standards, investment documentation, and best practices.
  • Review complex reporting issues and assist with resolution of data quality concerns.
  • Develop, document, and maintain standardized operating procedures for alternative investment reporting and reconciliation processes.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements that strengthen reporting quality, automation, operational efficiency, and data integrity.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new team members on investment reporting processes and the Masttro platform.
  • Promote consistency, quality, and continuous improvement across the investment reporting function.
  • Partner with advisors and client service teams to support the delivery of comprehensive client reporting.
  • Coordinate with investment managers, fund administrators, custodians, and technology providers to obtain accurate and timely investment information.
  • Work collaboratively with clients' external accountants by organizing and providing investment reporting and tax documentation as requested.
  • Support client meetings by preparing accurate investment reporting and portfolio summaries.
  • Assist advisors in understanding reporting status, investment activity, and outstanding reporting items to facilitate meaningful client discussions.
