About The Position

Teach, Lead, Inspire! Be an educator in Albemarle County Public Schools. The Center for Learning and Growth is the location of Albemarle County Public Schools alternative learning program. The program is facilitated by teachers who provide FOCUS (Flexible, Optimal, Customized, Understanding and Strategic) educational services. The staff provide a specialized short-term intervention for students requiring alternative placement in grades 6-12. Albemarle County Public Schools works together as a team to end the predictive value of race, class, gender, and special capacities for our children’s success through high-quality teaching and learning for all. We seek to build relationships with families and communities to ensure that every student succeeds. We will know every student! Requirements

  • Hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching certificate with endorsement to teach math grades 6-12.
  • Be innovative, self-reflective, collaborative, knowledgeable in content area and instructional practices, and continually growing and improving.
  • Be passionate about closing equity and achievement gaps.

Responsibilities

  • Teach students in grades 6-12 in an alternative education setting.
  • Provide FOCUS (Flexible, Optimal, Customized, Understanding and Strategic) educational services.
  • Facilitate specialized short-term intervention for students requiring alternative placement.
  • Engage with the Culturally Responsive Teaching model in support of the Equity Mission Statement.
  • Collaborate with administrators, instructional coaches, learning technology integrators, diversity resource teachers, and equity specialists.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
