About The Position

At PNNL, our core capabilities are divided among major departments that we refer to as Directorates within the Lab, focused on a specific area of scientific research or other function, with its own leadership team and dedicated budget. Our Science & Technology directorates include National Security, Earth and Biological Sciences, Physical and Computational Sciences, and Energy and Environment. In addition, we have an Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory, a Department of Energy, Office of Science user facility housed on the PNNL campus. The National Security Directorate (NSD) drives science-based, mission-focused solutions to take on complex, real-world threats to our nation and the world. The PNNL Field Intelligence Element (FIE) is an intelligence component of the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence Field Intelligence Enterprise. The FIE Operations Division, part of the National Security Directorate, is comprised of a cohesive team of leaders stewarding the capabilities and resources of the FIE in support of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, DOE, and other sponsors. The FIE is compliant, strategically proactive, and customer service oriented and offers efficient services and resources to support the FIE mission.

Requirements

BS/BA and 7 years of relevant experience -OR- MS/MA or higher and 5 years of relevant experience -OR- AA and 16 years of relevant experience -OR- HS/GED and 18 years of relevant experience
Qualifying experience supporting the areas of: technology protection, facility security, access control, information security, technical security, personnel security, compliance surveys and assessments, risk assessment, incident investigation and response, or patrol operations and alarm response may be counted.
Experience must be through work with Department of Energy, Department of Defense, Homeland Security, intelligence community or military operational security, investigations, federal/state/local law enforcement or commercial/industrial security.
U.S. Citizenship
Background Investigation: Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter in accordance with 10 CFR 710, Appendix B.
Drug Testing: All Security Clearance positions are Testing Designated Positions, which means that the applicant selected for hire is subject to pre-employment drug testing, and post-employment random drug testing.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for the 12 consecutive months preceding completion of the requisite Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP).
Mandatory Requirements: The Department of Energy (DOE) prohibits DOE employees and contractors from having any affiliation with the foreign government of a country DOE has identified as a “country of risk” without explicit approval by DOE and Battelle. Responsibilities

Safeguarding sensitive compartmented information (SCI) and SCI facilities (SCIFs).
Support and manage Seattle-based operations across a variety of security programs, including special access and controlled access programs, personnel security, classified visits, information security, and security incident investigations.
Escorting uncleared visitors.
Performing cursory security inspections.
Responding to after-hours security events as needed.
Completion of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC) Special Security Officers Course (SSOC) and the SCIF Course (formerly the ICD 705 Course), or equivalent, is required within one year of hiring, pending course availability.
Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, a collaborative and mission-focused customer-service mindset, and effective written and verbal communication.
Demonstrate integrity and sound judgment, effectively solve problems and make risk-informed decisions, and adapt priorities quickly to changing mission needs, operational demands, and security requirements.
