YOU WILL BE: As an Alterations associate, you will be conducting alterations, resizing and restyling of all merchandise retailed in Saks Fifth Avenue stores.

Requirements

Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and types of fabrics, is preferred.
Ability to read English and understand instruction by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure

Responsibilities

Alter constructed garments to meet the standard of quality set by Saks Fifth Avenue equal or better than original construction
Alter seams vented or unvented, take in shoulder blades, reduce chest, narrow shoulders.
Rotate sleeves, shorten sleeves
Shorten back, shorten collar, and square shoulders
Shorten coat, re-line coat, or remake inside or outside pockets
Operate and maintain all sewing equipment
Self-inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
Complete alterations assigned tasks, as assigned by Supervisor/Lead
Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form
