About The Position

This position will require additional forklift skills in order to move glass safely and efficiently. The role involves the loading and unloading of float glass, raw material, semi-finished product, and finished product. The employee will be responsible for storage locations, inspecting forklifts for maintenance needs, and scanning product, truck assignments, and storage locations in the PLEX system. Health and safety within every operation are paramount. The role also includes assisting the team with processes toward continued improvement, performing 6S and housekeeping duties, and assisting with other plant projects as needed. The position requires the ability to stand for long periods, turn at the waist, reach, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds, as well as pass static strength requirements (grip). Visual acuity requirements include clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more, three-dimensional vision, color identification, and peripheral vision. The work environment is typically moderately noisy, and safety requirements include safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed work boots. The employee must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and solve practical problems. Proficiency in the metric system and adequate reading skills are necessary. Associates transferring to this position must remain for a minimum of six months. No active discipline above a Verbal Warning and a good attendance record are required. Interested associates should submit a signed Job Interest Form. The role also includes preparation before production, such as forklift recovery and charging, delivery of empty racks and crates, transfer of packed crates, and removal of defect racks. Effective and efficient forklift operating technique is essential. The employee must be 18 years of age or older.

Requirements

• Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, engineers, leadership and customers
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree(GED)
• The employee is regularly required o stand for long periods. Duties include turning at the waist, reaching, bending, squatting and lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability to pass static strength requirements (grip)
• Visual acuity including, but not limited to: Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Use this factor when special and minute accuracy is demanded
• Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. Use this factor when visual efficiency in terms of far acuity is required in day and night/dark conditions
• Three-dimensional vision. Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors
• Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables
• Must be proficient in metric system and have adequate reading skills
• If an associate transfers from one position to a second position, he/she should remain in the second position for a minimum of six months prior to bidding on another job
• No active discipline above a Verbal Warning
• Good attendance record
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

• 1 to 3 years manufacturing experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
• Forklift driver and material handler experience preferred
• Proficiency in ERP/Microsoft Office
• Safety and goal oriented
• Self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledgeable of work instructions and TS16949 systems
• Fuyao Fork Lift License

Responsibilities

• Support loading/unloading of raw material semi-finished product, and finished product
• Be responsible for storage location
• Inspect fork lift for maintenance needs and provide to Maintenance for regularly scheduled maintenance
• Responsible for scanning product, truck assignments, and storage location in the PLEX system
• Responsible for health and safety within every operation
• Assist team with processes toward continued improvement
• Perform 6S and housekeeping duties
• Assists and participates with other plant projects as needed
• Other duties as assigned
• Delivery of empty racks and crates (wood, steel) to lines
• Transfer of packed and banded crates from lines to staging area
• Removal of defect racks and transport to designated location
• Effective and efficient forklift operating technique
• Preparation before production (including forklift recovery and charging)
