About The Position

Performs allergy testing to Patients and administers allergy injections to allergy patients. Greets patients in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner. Performs allergy testing according to protocol, scans tests, bills and submits to Physician for review. Performs allergy shots according to protocol & records into the allergy documenting software. Informs supervisor thru clinical module as a patient message if patients are having problems (2 or more local reactions) with their shots/testing. Restocks shot room supplies at the end of each day. Changes out red bag and sharps container as needed. Informs supervisor when supplies are needed (syringes, sharps containers, alcohol, etc.). When patients reorder serum, checks in inquiry and documents last appt. with doctor and type of insurance in managed care. If referral is needed, informs Lead. Checks new serum by activating vials in the allergy documenting software. Goes through patient serum in use to check for and remove expired bottles. Goes through patient serum that have been made but have not been vial tested, makes a list for supervisor and removes expired bottles. Fills out expired serum form and calls patients to reorder. Answers allergy clinic phone and checks messages from voice mail each day. Extra duties may include Xolair, Allergy Testing, following documentation for Meaningful Use, scheduling, and any other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Medical Assistant diploma or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
