About The Position

Administers allergy injections to allergy patients. This role involves greeting patients, performing allergy shots according to protocol, documenting procedures, managing supplies, checking and activating new serum, removing expired serum, and answering clinic phones. Additional duties may include administering Xolair, performing allergy testing, following documentation for Meaningful Use, and scheduling, as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Medical Assistant diploma or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Trained and assigned a schedule for Xolair administration.
  • Trained and assigned a schedule for Allergy Testing.

Responsibilities

  • Administers allergy injections to allergy patients.
  • Greet patients in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Perform allergy shots according to protocol & record into the allergy documenting software.
  • Inform supervisor thru clinical module as a patient message if patients are having problems (2 or more local reactions) with their shots.
  • Restock shot room supplies at the end of each day.
  • Change out red bag and sharps container as needed.
  • Inform supervisor when supplies are needed (syringes, sharps containers, alcohol, etc.)
  • When patients reorder serum, check in inquiry and document last appt. with doctor and type of insurance in managed care. If referral is needed, inform Lead.
  • Check new serum by activating vials in the allergy documenting software.
  • Go through patient serum in use to check for and remove expired bottles.
  • Go through patient serum that have been made but have not been vial tested make a list for supervisor and remove expired bottles.
  • Fill out expired serum form and call patients to reorder.
  • Answer allergy clinic phone and check messages from voice mail each day.
  • Administer Xolair (if trained and assigned a schedule).
  • Perform Allergy Testing (if trained and assigned a schedule).
  • Follow documentation for Meaningful Use.
  • Scheduling.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.
