Raytheon’s Naval Airborne Systems (NAS), a sub strategic business unit within Naval Power, seeks an Algorithm Systems Engineer II to provide technical algorithm support and analysis to several programs or Internal Research and Development (IRAD) efforts on the family of Advanced Sensor Programs. The position will reside in the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities Center within the Airborne Surveillance RF department. This systems engineer will work amongst other Systems Engineers on-site and will support the chief engineer and lead systems engineer. Specific duties may include performance analysis, algorithm development, algorithm analysis, trade study generation, statistical modeling, performance predictions, and data analysis for complex systems using Raytheon Engineering processes and practices. Related day-to-day duties include: participating in peer reviews and resolving identified technical problems. This individual will interface with their team lead, team members, and related engineers on a daily basis, conduct or participate in customer and/or program presentations, and provide task progress status updates and work products to the team lead.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) obtained by start date
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)
  • Experience in any of the following areas: Signal Processing Algorithms or Models, Image Processing Algorithms or Models, Detection Theory or Machine Learning.
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux and demonstrated computer programming skills in C or C++ and using MATLAB or Python for data analysis.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Ability to work as a member of a team; will report to an algorithm integrated product team supporting multiple platforms.
  • Strong mathematical modeling and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience developing signal processing algorithms for airborne surveillance applications, signal & image processing, digital communications, detection and estimation theory, or AI/ML and training techniques.
  • Experience with Real-time Programming, software change management tools and processes.
  • Current Department of War Secret or Top Secret Clearance.
