About The Position

Applied Research Solutions (ARS) is seeking a full-time Algorithm and Crypto Transition Analyst to support the Headquarters Cyber Capability Center (HQ CCC) at Scott AFB, IL. The HQ CCC is responsible for identifying cryptographic capability gaps across space, air, cyber, and ground domains, and for advancing Air Force (AF) Cryptographic Modernization (CM) initiatives and their associated mission directives. Requirements

  • TS Clearance with SCI/SAP Eligibility.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Communication Security (COMSEC) principles, including lifecycle management of cryptographic equipment.
  • Minimum of two years of hands-on experience in cryptographic key management (ordering, generation, distribution, destruction) using systems like Key Management Infrastructure (KMI).
  • Comprehensive understanding of the strategic roles and operational responsibilities of Controlling Authorities and COMSEC account management.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with strategic level NSA, DoD, and DAF security policies and procedures pertaining to cryptographic and keying material, associated classification guides.
  • Minimum of two years of advanced staff experience with planning, organizing, and negotiating effectively with cross-functional teams using Task Management Tool (TMT) or other staff coordination standards, document reviews, program updates, and background papers.
  • Minimum of two years of advanced staff experience with planning, organizing, and negotiating effectively with cross-functional teams to drive adoption of critical recommendations.
  • Knowledge and experience with administrative maintenance and support of cloud-based business tools (e.g., Envision, Microsoft 365 Power Platforms) for efficient operations, system performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and user account/permissions management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform capability gap identification and analysis based on NSA guidance, detailing cryptographic algorithms nearing end-of-life and potential weakening of DoW's ability to secure classified C4 links (Decertification).
  • Provide Key Extension Request (KER) support and advice to HQ CCC, SAF Office of the Chief Information Officer (SAF/CN), HAF A6, and Space Force (SF) S6 by collecting and reviewing packages, coordinating briefers and documentation, making recommendations, and assisting SAF/CN in scheduling briefs.
  • Contact COMSEC material Controlling Authorities (CONAUTH) of DAF and DAF-assigned COMSEC accounts, Program Management Offices (PMOs), and individual users, with Government oversight or approval, regarding cryptographic keying material. Determine if short titles will be cancelled, transitioned, or require a key extension request.
