About The Position

Provides quality, confidential, age specific alcohol/chemical dependency education, group counseling, and individual counseling. Evaluates and assesses patients with attention to the biological, psychological, cultural, spiritual, and social needs and ability to participate in treatment. Provides education re: alcohol/chemical dependency, tobacco cessation, gambling addiction, recovery skills and strategies to patients. Assists in the provision of alcohol/substance abuse consults at Garnet Health as requested by physicians, nursing and case management staff. Facilitates wellness education groups on the Behavioral Health Unit regarding alcohol/substance abuse and other addictive behaviors.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in the treatment of Substance Use Disorders.
  • CASAC or CASAC-T
  • Must attend hospital crisis training program within 3 months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
  • Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
  • Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs.
  • Occasional prolonged standing/walking.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.
  • Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.
