Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Prevention Manager
About The Position
University Health Services is seeking an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Prevention Manager to provide leadership and oversight for AOD education and prevention initiatives, including Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students (BASICS). This position is responsible for program administration, evaluation, campus and community partnerships, and the development and delivery of AOD education and training. The AOD Prevention Manager works closely with campus conduct partners and other stakeholders to support students through brief interventions, personalized feedback, coordinated referral systems, and prevention programming. The role also serves as a campus resource on AOD-related issues, supervises interns or practicum students, and contributes to broader health promotion and prevention efforts across UHS. This position reports to the Assistant Director for High-Risk Drinking Prevention.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in public health, health education, counseling, social work, higher education or related fields
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in public health, community health or health education or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, or evaluation
- Demonstrated experience providing education, training, or presentations to diverse audiences
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of collegiate AOD prevention and brief intervention programs, including BASICS
- Experience using Motivational Interviewing techniques
- Experience building collaborative partnerships and leading cross-functional initiatives
- Demonstrated organizational, project management, and communication skills
- Experience with program assessment, data analysis, and report writing
Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver evidence-based AOD intervention programs for students and student organizations referred through campus conduct processes
- Develop, implement, and evaluate prevention programs and services, using data and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement
- Collaborate with campus and community partners to coordinate referrals, interventions, and prevention strategies
- Provide consultation, training, and education to student-facing staff on motivational interviewing, AOD interventions, and referral pathways
- Develop and deliver educational content, presentations, trainings, and online resources related to alcohol and other drug prevention
- Serve as the UHS subject matter expert on AOD prevention, contributing to campus-wide prevention and health promotion initiatives
- Support peer education programs through curriculum development, training, and consultation
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate interns, practicum students, and other program staff as assigned
- Represent UHS on campus committees and councils focused on AOD prevention and student well-being
- Provides consultation, training, and capacity-building resources for stakeholders to advance a health-promoting setting with respect to policies, learning and working environments, physical spaces, services and support, student development, and/or opportunities for social connectedness
- Applies evidence-based theories, frameworks, and assessments according to current health research and practice
- Develops, implements, organizes, and evaluates population-health initiatives based on sound data, theory, and evidence
- Gathers and evaluates population-level health data and engages with stakeholders to discern needs and interests and build capacity for population-level health improvement
