About The Position

Provide the soldiers, family members, citizens, and visitors of Fort Campbell, Kentucky, the most professional, courteous, efficient and effective emergency and non-emergency communications possible. Alarm monitors are assigned to specific 8-hour shifts. Swing Shift: 4 p.m. – 12 a.m. (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday)

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Prepare clear and factually accurate reports.
  • Have the ability of hearing, eyesight, and finger/hand usage for operations, be of good health and mentally alert.
  • This position is considered essential employees, you must report for duty, remain on duty during inclement weather, declared emergencies, and/or elevated FPCON levels unless otherwise directed.
  • Successfully pass all required training and certifications required for this position including:
  • APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator I.
  • APCO Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD).
  • APCO Fire Service Communications.
  • APCO Law Enforcement Communications.
  • HAZMAT Awareness.
  • Cardio, Pulmonary, Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD-issued CAC card (i.e., NACI/SF85).
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and operates multiple channel trunked radio system. Operate commercial intrusion detection and fire alarm monitoring computer systems.
  • Documents emergency call and responder dispatch information in the CAD system.
  • Documents daily dispatches and movement of vehicles and equipment resources during routine and emergency response events. PST shall also record benchmark events during incidents in the CAD.
  • Conducts the daily test of radio systems, emergency dispatch tones and emergency phones in accordance with SOP/GTA. PST shall record system deficiencies and make applicable notifications in accordance with SOP/GTA.
  • Records fire and intrusion alarm tests manually as required.
  • Contact Directorate of Public Works (DPW) and Fire Department if fire alarms monitoring malfunction.
  • Places work orders with DPW at the request of any First Responder and ICIDS Administrator.
  • Determines the nature of the phone call and may transfer caller to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) upon determining the location of the incident.
  • Obtains, verifies, and records the location of the emergency, the name of the caller, the nature, severity and current status of the emergency, and obtains and other appropriate information needed to secure a full assessment of the circumstances.
  • Maintains a reassuring and calming manner with caller to obtain required information; persuades callers to stay on the line.
  • Assist in the training of new trainees under the supervision of the shift supervisor.
  • Provides guidance using the APCO EMD protocols until the arrival of professional medical assistance.
  • Provides precautionary instructions and advice to help assure the personal safety of person and/or to minimize the loss of property, pending the arrival of fire, police, and other assistance.
