Under general supervision, perform traffic control and security functions at the Airport's airline terminal; tactfully explain parking rules and regulations to the public; issue parking citations; monitor the Commercial Ground Transportation Lane for compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; conduct security inspections of the terminal building and ramp; respond to public inquires; monitor the passenger exit lane; conduct random inspections of employees who seek to enter a restricted area of the airport; and perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Principles and procedures of record keeping
• English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
• Basic mathematical principles
• Principles of airport emergency procedures
• Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations
• Modern communications procedures, methods and equipment including computers
• Ability to make appropriate decisions
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure situations
• Ability to deal tactfully with upset people and explain parking ordinances and departmental procedures
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
• Ability to learn radio communication procedures
• Ability to interpret City policies and procedures
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of duty
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to conduct routine inspections
• Ability to pass a background investigation in accordance with TSR Part 1542
• Possession of a valid California driver's license at the time of appointment
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid C.P.R. certificate
• Frequent standing and walking for long periods of time
• High school diploma or its equivalency

Nice To Haves

• Public contact experience is desirable
• Coursework in criminal justice, communications and/or airport management is desirable
