About The Position

GEOMETRICS is an airport planning, design, construction management & inspection, and program/project management firm, with specialized focus on complex airfield and facility improvement projects and programs at large, medium and small hub, commercial and general aviation airports across the United States. Geometrics Engineering is seeking experienced Mechanical QA Inspectors (HVAC/Plumbing/Fire Protection) to support terminal, airfield, and campus-wide construction projects at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). This position will support the Austin Expansion and Development Program and is critical to ensuring construction activities comply with contract documents, approved plans, applicable codes, FAA and airport standards, and quality assurance requirements. QA Inspectors will provide on-site field verification, documentation, coordination with contractors, and support to Construction Managers and airport stakeholders throughout the construction lifecycle. The Mechanical QA Inspector will support the inspection of mechanical systems across terminal, airfield, and campus-wide facilities. This role focuses on ensuring mechanical installations meet contract requirements, applicable codes, manufacturer recommendations, and airport standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of construction inspection or construction experience, preferably including aviation facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with HVAC, plumbing, mechanical equipment, and fire protection systems.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (IMC, IPC, SMACNA, NFPA).
  • Ability to interpret contract documents, technical specifications, and testing reports.
  • Ability to pass TSA background checks and obtain airport security credentials (CHRC and STA).

Responsibilities

  • Inspect installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, plumbing, fire protection, hydronic piping, and building automation systems.
  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs for compliance with design intent and codes.
  • Perform on-site inspections, pressure testing observations, and functional checks of mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate with contractors, third-party inspectors, AUS Operations, Environmental teams, and City inspectors.
  • Document inspection results, deficiencies, and corrective actions in detailed daily reports.
  • Support Construction Managers with quantity verification for pay applications and project closeout.
