About The Position

Under the direction of the operations manager, the Airport Maintenance Worker III performs skilled and semi‑skilled work to ensure the airport remains safe, compliant, and operational 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Responsible for maintaining and inspecting airfield facilities, pavements, lighting systems, grounds, buildings, and aircraft operating areas in accordance with FAA 14 CFR Part 139 requirements, airport policy, and industry best practices. The salary and hiring range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.   This opportunity will be available to applicants until filled. This is a temporary position, working 40 hours per week, for a maximum of 10 months. There is an option for medical coverage only. A current resume is required, and a cover letter is preferred. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in general maintenance, construction, equipment operation, or a related field.
  • Ability to safely operate basic tools, light‑duty machinery, and vehicles.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety practices and the ability to follow established procedures.
  • Willingness to work in an airfield environment and learn airport‑specific operations.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain airport credentialing.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and orally including by the use of aircraft radio communications.
  • Must be fingerprinted and pass a ten-year criminal history background check as required by TSA to work within airport secured areas.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 Year/Associate Degree
  • Experience working at an airport, aviation facility, or similar operational environment.
  • Some Experience operating heavy or specialized equipment such as plows, loaders, tractors, mowers, or airfield maintenance machinery.
  • Coursework or training in aviation, airport operations, facilities maintenance, construction, mechanics, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with airport layouts, airfield markings, basic FAA rules, or general airport operations.
  • Prior involvement in snow removal, groundskeeping, or maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out operational tasks and assists with maintaining airport equipment, and related equipment.
  • Performs repair and maintenance of airport equipment and grounds under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Provides 24/7 on‑call support for operational needs, including winter snow removal on nights and weekends when assigned.
  • Executes all duties safely within an active airport environment where aircraft operations are ongoing.
  • Maintains airfield facilities in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations upon completion of required training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
