About The Position
The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission is looking for a dedicated and hardworking individual to join their team as an Airport Maintenance Technician. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safety, functionality, and smooth operations of the airport. The position involves a variety of tasks, primarily focused on Airfield Maintenance, with cross-training in Facilities Maintenance. This job involves working outdoors in all types of weather and requires a commitment to maintaining airport infrastructure and grounds.
Requirements
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, pavement maintenance or similar.
- A team player with a strong work ethic and problem-solving mindset.
- A valid Virginia driver's license and a clean driving record.
- The ability to pass a TSA security clearance and drug test.
Nice To Haves
- Facilities maintenance or trades experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Mowing, landscaping, planting, pruning, mulching, weeding, and maintaining fences.
- Sweeping, repairing, and ensuring the safety of all paved surfaces, including airport runways.
- Operating, fueling, and cleaning trucks, tractors, and other powered tools.
- Removing snow and ice during winter conditions.
- Plumbing, painting, carpentry, masonry, and other facility maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems, as well as security gates and passenger loading bridges.
