About The Position

Waukesha County Airport is looking to hire up to 24 temporary, part-time workers to perform snow/de-icing duties and other related grounds maintenance work. This position requires the ability to work in all weather conditions. Position is an on-call basis spread across two shifts: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Requirements

Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safe work practices.
Ability to operate a variety of trucks and equipment necessary for airport grounds maintenance.
Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor for extended periods under variable weather conditions.
Ability to climb in and out of elevated equipment without support several times throughout shift.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working and public relations with co-workers, the public, vendors and outside agencies.
Ability to effectively interact with sensitivity with persons from diverse cultures, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds, and persons of all ages and lifestyles.
Ability to respond at any time to emergency situations such as snowstorms, windstorms, flooding, traffic accidents, and fires.
High school graduation or GED equivalent.
Valid driver's license.
Possess mechanical aptitude.

Nice To Haves

Work experience in airport and/or other facility grounds maintenance, and the operation of a variety of related trucks and equipment is highly desirable.
Possession of a valid Wisconsin Class B Commercial Driver's License is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Operates equipment for snow removal and de-icing under adverse weather conditions.
Inspects, maintains, and operates daily assigned equipment to ensure continued safe and efficient operation of the airport.
May be called upon at any time to respond to emergency situations such as snowstorms, windstorms, flooding, accidents, fires.
Establishes and maintains effective working and public relations with coworkers, airport users, service providers, the public, vendors, and outside agencies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
