This state position is federally funded and located at the Vermont Air National Guard base in South Burlington. Airport Firefighters currently work a 24-hour shift providing fire and emergency services on the airfield and the surrounding communities. Some of these services include emergency response to military/civilian aircraft, Structural Firefighting, Technical Rescues and Emergency Medical Services. Incumbents must be certified to Department of Defense (DoD) or International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) certified or Pro Board at the following levels: Fire Fighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations. Incumbents will have 6 months to obtain Airport Fire Fighter, Driver Operator (DO) ARFF, DO Pumper, DO Mobile Water Supply.
