About The Position

Performs semiskilled work in the maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, and grounds of the County Airport. This role involves working under the close supervision of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor and upholding the organization's core values: Resilience, Excellence, Accountability, Customer Service, and Honesty. The position may require working rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather.

Requirements

General knowledge of tools, materials, and equipment used in general construction, turf grass, horticulture, and maintenance work.
General knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools, and techniques of the standard building trades.
Some knowledge of safety precautions applicable to job duties.
Some knowledge of standard office productivity software.
Ability to understand and follow instructions in both oral and written form.
Ability to operate simple machinery and equipment.
Good physical condition.
General landscaping knowledge.
Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time.
Ability to maintain effective relationships with other employees and the general public.
High school diploma or GED.
Moderate experience in grounds and facilities maintenance work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid North Carolina Pesticide Applicators license within the first 6 months of employment.
Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA) to obtain an airport security (SIDA) badge.

Responsibilities

Schedules and performs/coordinates maintenance on HVAC systems, air handlers, baggage conveyor systems, jet-way loading bridges, ADA passenger loading devices, automatic door systems, parking lot automated gates and ticket distribution devices, public addressing systems, security access doors, and the terminal sewer LPP system.
Uses a computerized system for maintenance requests, purchase requests, and vendor quotes.
Maintains airport grounds, including mowing grass, weed-trimming, and landscaping.
Performs maintenance and repair of airport buildings and facilities.
Performs plumbing, masonry, painting, carpentry, and minor electrical work.
Performs custodial duties, including collecting and disposing of trash and garbage.
Operates trucks, tractors, and mowers for grounds maintenance.
Applies pesticides and herbicides to industry standards.
Performs snow removal, leaf, and limb removal.
Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member if appointed or volunteer.
Performs related tasks as required.
