About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for an Airport Engineer (Experienced) to join Boeing Company’s Airport Technology Engineering team in Seal Beach, California. This role involves providing expertise in aircraft/airport compatibility issues, including airport operations and planning. The engineer will utilize ICAO and FAA airfield pavement standards to analyze pavement data, determine pavement strength by calculating ICAO PCN and PCR values, and apply knowledge of airfield pavement design and evaluation using FAA pavement design software. The position requires advanced knowledge of airfield signage, lighting, NAVAIDs, ICAO and FAA aerodrome design standards, proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation, ArcGIS, AVIPLAN and Excel, strong technical writing and public speaking skills, and experience mentoring junior engineers. Responsibilities include comparing airplane configurations with airport operations and infrastructure to identify incompatible features, conducting on-site pavement roughness and strength tests, documenting airport infrastructure, and providing recommendations for modifications and upgrades. The role also involves conducting trade studies of airplane design characteristics, advising on aircraft pavement loading and Part 139 certification issues, and recommending changes to facilities or procedures to support the removal of operational restrictions. Additionally, the engineer will mentor and train early career engineers and oversee quality control by checking computations and drawings performed by others. The position requires analyzing technical problems and providing new approaches and alternative solutions.
