About The Position

The Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport is seeking a self-motivated Airport Enforcement Officer to join their team. This role involves enforcing safety, security, traffic control, and parking standards on Airport property, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring the safety and security of the public, grounds, tenants, and facilities. The Airport operates 24/7, and the position requires flexibility in scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Successful candidates will undergo pre-employment checks including a credit and federal criminal background check, a review of their driving record, and a drug screen.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate mandatory training, special project needs, and other coverage requirements.
  • Pass a credit and federal criminal background check prior to hire.
  • Submit an acceptable DMV certified court print prior to hire.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, which includes screening for Marijuana.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • One year prior law enforcement, military, security, airport or aviation related experience.
  • One year additional experience involving heavy public contact.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must pass an in-depth background check investigation and a security threat assessment.
  • Familiarity with methods and techniques of security and enforcement.
  • Ability to operate two-way radios and surveillance equipment.
  • Ability to learn, understand and apply FAA advisory circulars and TSA regulations.
  • Ability to operate computer software applications including word processing, e-mail and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to collect, organize and analyze data.
  • Ability to understand and carry out simple oral and written directions.
  • Ability to keep detailed, legible and accurate records.
  • Ability to read and understand airline schedules, building floor plans, department communications, etc.
  • Ability to communicate courteously, professionally and effectively with tenants and the general public.
  • Ability to explain Airport policies and procedures as well as federal regulations as necessary.
  • Ability to present acceptable documents verifying identity and authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Enforces safety, security, traffic control, and parking standards on Airport property.
  • Maintains regulatory compliance.
  • Ensures the safety and security of the public, grounds, tenants, and facilities at the airport.
  • Patrols airfield perimeter and maintains the safety of the security identification display area.
  • Patrols terminal, curb, and adjacent areas enforcing regulations.
  • Checks gates and verifies authorized personnel on Airport property.
  • Issues notices or citations as necessary for parking or other violations.
  • Conducts routine inspections of interior and exterior areas of the Airport.
  • Identifies possible breaches of regulations and/or procedures and responds as directed.
  • Performs investigations relating to injuries, accidents, and breaches of regulations/procedures and provides support to responding law enforcement and emergency agencies.
  • Conducts vehicle searches and implements policies and procedures regarding unattended or suspicious baggage.
  • Evaluates situations and makes appropriate decisions.
  • Ensures unattended vehicles that are improperly positioned are removed promptly.
  • Adheres to regulatory requirements, collective bargaining agreements, County and departmental policies and procedures, required trainings, and safe work practices.
  • Develops and maintains effective internal and external working relationships at all levels.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • May work a variety of shifts and schedules, including nights and weekends.
  • Overtime may be required.
