As a result of our expansive growth, we have a position available for a limited-term, full-time civil engineering intern to perform construction inspection on construction sites for airport projects based in Lansing, MI (and other project sites located within the state of MI) starting in May/June 2027 and ending in August/September 2027.

Requirements

  • Completed at least two semesters of college-level coursework in civil engineering from an accredited college or university by date of hire.
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass background checks to gain access to airport sites
  • Frequent travel to construction project sites approximately 100% of the time (may also include overnight stays) will be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Construction field experience including observation and documentation
  • Previous internships involving construction, DOT projects, surveying and/or civil site inspections
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Civil3D software
  • Understanding of basic grading and testing processes
  • Knowledge of airport planning and/or design
  • Survey tasks
  • Civil/survey engineering coursework
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Can work well both independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Assisting engineers, technicians, and surveyors with civil airport projects including taxiways, runways, aprons, etc.
  • Performing measurements and quantity calculations and preparing pay estimates
  • Assisting with project report preparation
  • Performing field inspection, documentation, and survey work
  • Some technical research and writing
  • Other tasks as assigned.
