About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical airfield support for the CCSFS Skid Strip. Duties include planning, organizing, and overseeing the activities of Airfield Management/Base Operations. This role also involves overseeing the maintenance and operation of the airfield to ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations. The specialist will represent the installation for all airfield management matters at various conferences, meetings, and one-on-one dealings with local officials, other DoD components, and other Federal and State organizations concerning the management and use of the airfield. Additionally, the position provides oversight of airfield operations at Ascension AAF.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service.
  • If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations.
  • If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement.
  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.

  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and qualify to drive government motor vehicle on aircraft flight line.
  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
  • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in the Federal Service.
  • Specialized experience must include in maintaining, retailing, purchasing, or procurement of automotive, rail, air, bus, or other transportation equipment or services, or in the operation of a commercial transportation facility or terminal.
  • This experience must have demonstrated knowledge of fleet operations; familiarity with Federal, State, and municipal regulations governing the use of transportation vehicles; and the maintenance of inventories and cost computations.
  • Knowledge of DOD, Air Force, Federal Aviation Administration, International Civil Aviation rules, and other applicable laws, regulations, instructions, and directives as they pertain to airfield standards, air traffic control, aircraft operations characteristics, and airfield management.
  • Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

  • An additional supervisory probationary period of one year may be required when an employee is officially assigned to a different supervisory position.
