About The Position

The Airfield Lighting Product Junior Field Technician will install, configure, commission, test and train on control system projects, including assuming responsibility for all technical project activities and the execution of the high-level airport critical ALP control systems. The incumbent will develop to be a subject matter expert on ALP Computerized control systems, and will be responsible independently to configure, test, install, and document in house and on-site control systems. This role requires availability to travel a minimum of 75% and spend most weeks on-site at customer locations. The Field Technician must be able to efficiently apply knowledge in both electrical and computer technicalities while working independently.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a field service environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or two-year technical degree from an accredited institution
  • Basic understanding of electrical technology

  • Prior experience working with control systems
  • Proficient with operating computers and configuring network switches
  • Experience using electronic measurement equipment and tools
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Military technical training

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, wiring and hardware configuration using electrical measurement equipment such as True RMS multimeter and current clamps and personal protective equipment
  • Perform installation and configuration of network switches.
  • Perform installation and configuration of computer operating systems.
  • Be available for emergency travel and on-site support.
  • Support, troubleshoot and resolve customers issues over the phone as part of the technical Helpdesk.
  • Lead and support factory control systems assembly, installation, build and test.
  • Lead and document factory acceptance tests.
  • Learn and practice to become a subject matter expert on CHALP control systems including the ability to perform customer training and recommend improvements on upgrades and best practices.
  • Review and approve projects technical drawings submissions.
  • Be organized and clearly document critical reports such as drawing mark ups, site reports and punch lists.
  • Have responsibility for expense management and capital planning.
