About The Position

As an Airfield Crew member, you will perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and minor construction work, as well as respond to emergencies at SEA Airport. You will perform maintenance on runways, taxiways, ramps, roads, and parking lot pavement. You will be responsible for communicating on two-way radios with other agencies working in and around airport property (i.e. Air Traffic Control Tower). You will maintain the landscaping and field mowing. You will be part of the inclement weather team (Snow Team) and respond in emergencies to preform snow removal and other duties. You will perform underground utility investigations, record keeping, and reporting. You will perform minor underground utility repairs and preventative maintenance. You will operate and maintain equipment at a high level of safety.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of Journey level experience in a maintenance or construction field.
  • Ability to obtain a commercial driver license within 6 months of employment.
  • Must participate in the Port of Seattle Drug and Alcohol Program as required by the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration.
  • Must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check.
  • Must pass a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
  • Must obtain a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
  • Must obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
  • Must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and maintain it during employment.
  • Ability to use multiple different types of equipment including front-end loaders, dump trucks, forklifts, back-hoes, skid steers, excavators, jetting equipment, push cameras, aerial lift equipment, snowplows, sanders, roadside sweepers, field mowers, weed eaters, backpack blowers, pressure washers, pavement breakers, chipping guns, drills, traffic control devices, as well as other miscellaneous hand tools.
  • Ability to work from written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to communicate by radio with peers, supervisors, and the air traffic control tower.
  • Follow all established safety requirements.
  • Be a strong team-oriented person and willing to help your team to get tasks completed.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or A, with Air Brake, tanker, and hazardous material endorsements.
  • Washington State Traffic Control Card.
