About The Position

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH Global) is looking for an Aircraft Sustainment / Liaison Engineer. This role supports line maintenance and heavy maintenance depot operations at US Air Force bases by providing technical dispositions and guidance for aircraft issues that exceed published limits for structural damage, including sheet metal and composite repairs. The position involves performing structural analysis, authorizing work deviations, interpreting service documents and Technical Orders, and offering cost-effective repair versus replacement options. It also includes providing aircraft system troubleshooting assistance, attending production meetings, offering on-site engineering support for damaged aircraft, coordinating with the USAF Program Office, monitoring trends, developing typical repairs, and authoring policies for FAA compliance.

Requirements

  • BS Degree (or higher) in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering
  • Two plus (2+) years in specific technical discipline
  • Ability to perform structural analysis to substantiate repairs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, conscientious and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of FARs, FAA policies, and vendor manual (AMM, IPC, CMM)
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule to meet internal customer's needs
  • Ability to pass a Tier 1(minimum) Investigation for work on Department of Defense contracts.

Nice To Haves

  • Aircraft/airline/MRO or aviation engineering experience desired
  • Existing security clearance is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical dispositions and guidance for aircraft issues that exceed published limits for structural damage including sheet metal and composite repairs.
  • Performing structural analysis to substantiate repairs.
  • Providing work deviation authorization, interpretation of service documents & Technical Orders.
  • Providing options for repairing versus replacing a part to minimize financial impact.
  • Providing aircraft system trouble shooting assistance.
  • Attending regular production meetings to ensure timely support.
  • Providing on-site engineering assistance for significantly damaged aircraft as required.
  • Coordinating events/issues with USAF Program Office for additional action, troubleshooting and follow-up.
  • Monitoring trends and recurring discrepancies requiring corrective action.
  • Developing Typical Repairs and manual supplement to eliminate repetitive Engineering Technical Assistance Requests (ETARs).
  • Authoring policies and processes to ensure general compliance with FAA regulations.
