About The Position

PGS Worldwide is seeking an Aircraft Structures & Low Observable Technician at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida for a 5-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will support aircraft structural repair, modification, and Low Observable (LO) restoration activities on advanced fighter aircraft. The technician will perform precision sheet-metal fabrication, structural assembly, bonding, coating-related work, and repairs while working from engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with Low Observable coatings or high-gloss aircraft paint systems.
  • Experience performing aircraft structural fabrication, assembly, or repair.
  • Experience supporting fighter aircraft.
  • Flight-line maintenance experience.
  • Experience with Low Observable coating application and restoration.
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft engineering drawings, technical manuals, structural repair manuals, and technical orders.
  • Ability to identify aircraft locations using station, butt-line, and waterline references.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and standard scales.
  • Experience using aircraft fabrication tools such as drills, angle motors, shears, drill presses, and pneumatic riveters.
  • Experience fabricating aircraft structural parts such as shims, splices, gussets, angles, brackets, doublers, stiffeners, and patches.
  • Knowledge of aircraft bonding practices, materials, procedures, and repair techniques.
  • Experience with Low Observable or aircraft coating systems.
  • 5th-generation fighter aircraft sheet-metal and/or Low Observable experience and training.
  • USAF 5- or 7-skill level, applicable Navy NEC or Marine MOS qualification, FAA Airframe & Powerplant certification, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, safe, FOD-free work environment.
  • Ability to wear a full-face respirator, Tyvek suit, gloves, and other required PPE during daily work activities.

  • F-22 experience.
  • F-35 experience.
  • Previous Low Observable coating application training.
  • Composite-material experience.
  • Experience with aircraft paint systems and paint-process techniques.
  • Experience interpreting aircraft paint drawings and stencil requirements.
  • Knowledge of paint mixing ratios, viscosity requirements, and identification of unacceptable coating applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Low Observable restoration and aircraft modification activities.
  • Fabricate, fit, assemble, install, and repair aircraft structural components.
  • Perform trimming, filing, drilling, riveting, reforming, fitting, and deburring operations.
  • Fabricate shims, brackets, plates, doublers, patches, and other structural details.
  • Perform aircraft bonding operations where tooling, processes, or established sequences may require technician judgment.
  • Lay out and locate parts and materials to maintain critical contours, dimensions, and edge-distance requirements.
  • Inspect installed materials for compliance with technical specifications.
  • Determine material and labor requirements for structural and bonding repairs.
  • Remove, correct, and reinstall aircraft components affected by repair or modification changes.
  • Set up and operate material testers, mixers, and related equipment.
  • Develop or improvise shop aids to support fabrication and assembly.
  • Record repair data and procedural information for future use.
  • Maintain strict FOD, safety, material-handling, and PPE requirements.
