About The Position

The Aircraft Structural Mechanic I is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining aircraft structures, functional components, and various complex aircraft systems. This role ensures all aircraft are safe and fully operational by performing detailed hourly, calendar, and phase inspections, interpreting technical data, and executing precision mechanical and structural repairs.

Requirements

Proven ability to read and interpret manufacturers' manuals, airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, engineering data, and technical specifications.
Ability to specialize in the repair, modification, and work of structural, precision, and functional spare parts, assemblies, or engine repair.
Demonstrated skill in using hand tools, power tools, gauges, and heavy machinery (e.g., forklifts, hoists).
Must be US Citizen to apply

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and/or Powerplant (A&P) license may be required.

Responsibilities

Identify malfunctions in aircraft structures, landing gear, flight surfaces/controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power units (APU), and ventilation/heating systems.
Repair and rebuild critical structural components—including wings and fuselages—utilizing specialized tools such as shears, sheet metal brakes, welding equipment, rivet guns, and drills.
Replace and repair worn components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing/hydraulic units, carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel/oil pumps, compressor bleed valves, and engine-mounted gearboxes.
Remove engines using hoists or forklifts; disassemble, inspect, repair, reassemble, and reinstall engine assemblies.
Perform 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight inspections.
Run operational tests using specialized equipment like ignition analyzers, compression checkers, distributor timers, ammeters, and jet calibration (Jetcal) testers.
Examine reciprocating and jet engines for cracked cylinders, oil leaks, corrosion, foreign object damage (FOD), burnt areas, distortions, warping, wear, and turbine blade integrity.
Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.
Execute routine servicing duties including flushing crankcases, cleaning screens/filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
Supervise the safe jacking and towing of aircraft.
Enter accurate descriptions of all work performed into official maintenance records and verify satisfactory completion.
Service engines and airframe components at line stations to perform short-of-overhaul repairs that maintain safe operating conditions.
