About The Position

Are you ready to take your firefighting career to new heights? Join Canadian Base Operators (CBO) and play a critical role in supporting aviation safety for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). As an Aircraft Rescue Firefighter, you’ll be on the front lines of aviation safety—protecting personnel and aircraft. Reporting to the Fire Chief, you’ll support flight operations through emergency response, training, and prevention activities. This role includes day, evening, and weekend shifts. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Respond to aircraft emergencies, crashes, and fire incidents • Handle hazardous material situations, leaks, and spills • Deliver fire extinguisher and safety training to RCAF personnel • Educate teams on evacuation procedures and emergency preparedness • Inspect, maintain, and operate firefighting and rescue equipment • Complete regular reporting and participate in performance reviews • Maintain peak physical fitness and operational readiness • Promote a strong culture of safety in all activities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Recognized firefighting certifications (IFSAC/NFPA or equivalent), including: NFPA 1001 – Firefighter Level II, NFPA 1002 – Driver/Operator, NFPA 1003 – Airport Firefighter, NFPA 472 – Hazardous Materials Operations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Problem-solving mindset and adaptability
  • Comfortable using computers and MS Office
  • Valid Class 4 Driver’s License
  • Valid First Aid & CPR/AED Level C certification
  • Ability to obtain required permits (Radio Operator, Airside Vehicle Operator)
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Commitment to ongoing Annual Live Fire & Medical Certifications
  • Must pass an Annual Physical Fitness Maintenance Program
  • Must obtain an Enhanced Reliability Clearance from the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of firefighting experience in the aviation industry
