About The Position

This role is for an Aircraft Painter responsible for setting up various types of spray painting equipment and applying primer, finish, and protective paint and paint-like coatings to parts and subassemblies. The painter will obtain paint types, colors, number of coats, and areas to be painted from work orders, engineering drawings, and process specifications. Responsibilities include mixing paints, performing preparatory duties like cleaning and masking, laying out, masking, and spraying coatings on aircraft parts and assemblies, and making operating adjustments to painting equipment. The painter will also spray paint various compartments and interior surfaces of unstuffed major aircraft assemblies.

Requirements

  • MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
  • One year of production spray painting experience, either aircraft or auto body (ability to operate spray painting equipment and use acceptable spray painting techniques).
  • OR One year’s experience in the application of decals and spraying stencils, or other equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work with decimals, fractions, and proportions.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and process specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Obtaining paint types, colors, number of coats, and areas to be painted from work orders, engineering drawings, and process specifications.
  • Mixing paints to specified proportions and to obtain proper consistency for application.
  • Performing incidental preparatory duties such as cleaning and preparing surfaces for painting and masking to skin breaks or other physical references.
  • Laying out for, masking, and spraying all types of primer, finish, and protective coatings on surfaces of detail parts and of sub-assemblies.
  • Making operating adjustments to painting equipment to control spray pattern, density, and splatter as required.
  • Spray painting crew, equipment, passenger, stowage, and wheel-well compartments, and other interior surfaces of unstuffed major aircraft assemblies.
