About The Position

The Aircraft Painter I prepares aircraft for paint-related operations, performing tasks safely and on schedule while meeting quality expectations. This is an entry-level, second-shift weekday evening position in GAC Westfield. The role includes preparing aircraft surfaces, applying compounds, operating preparation and priming equipment, mixing paints and primers, and completing leading-edge sealant work. Employees must follow safety, 5S, housekeeping, and paint shop practices. The position requires the ability to work any shift and travel up to 25%.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
Ability to pass a Pulmonary Function Test to obtain respirator certification.
Ability to use tools, equipment, and materials in the aircraft painting process.
Ability to climb ladders and stairs, perform close-tolerance work, work in small spaces, and lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to work any shift.
Computer literacy.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Nice To Haves

Experience in paint processes.
Working knowledge of paint processes and products, including lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics.

Responsibilities

Mask, sand, and prepare aircraft for paint application.
Apply glazing and sealing compounds in preparation for final painting.
Operate and maintain preparation and priming equipment.
Mix paints and primers.
Perform leading-edge sealant work during final detailing.
Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies; use personal protective equipment and protect aircraft interiors.
Care for and maintain assigned shop equipment and tools.
Comply with Paint Shop standard practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
